Warm-Up & Vocal Flexing:
Improvisation Work:
1) Robot Assembly Line
- Students form a circle
- Mrs. Hancock will tap one actor to begin
- First person begins a movement (robotic task-crips and rythmic that the next person in line can add to) TO BEGIN THIS IS IN SILENCE
- Next person observes and then will perform a different part of the task begun by actor #1
- Finally the last actor in the rotation will connect to actor #1 to complete the circle
- Later rotations---add sound
2) Mystery Catch
- One actor begins by holding something and interacting with it
- This actor eventually decides to throw the object/'something' to another actor
- This object/'something' is caught and interacting with by actor #2 for 5-10 seconds and then he/she will change the object/'something'--it will assume a new shape which the audeinec must clearly see
- One actor will be asked to be the photographer and "NAME IT"--this means naming the postcard with a creative title or headline
- Actors will move into a position as if in a picture postcard.
- Actors should concentrate on adding to what is already in the scene and/or altering the scene just be adding a new person/position to the scene.
