Warm-Up & Vocal Flexing:

Improvisation Work: 

1)Impromptu Speeches (Simple Topics)
  • Speak on the topic for 60 seconds
  • Begin with a clever opening (not what is on the strip)
  • Incorporate the topic into the talk
  • Include a main point and specific examples
  • Try to set a tone--serious, comedic, light, mysterious
  • appeal to your audience
  • talk the whole time
2) Impromptu Speeches (Shakespeare Quotes)
  • Speak on this more complex quote for 90 seconds
  • All the rest is the same


The Activity/Skill Work for Today's Session:


  • New Challenge: Song Lyric Interpretations : PERFORM THURSDAY FOR ASSESSMENT & PEER FEEDBACK--videotaped
  • Mrs. Hancock checks last session's work
  • How much do you know?  Self-Test on paper
  • Review requirements for the performance
  • Practice for 5 minutes alone
  • Pair up (Hancock)--give feedback
  • Practice for 10 minutes (check the clock)
  • Pair up again (student choice)--partners take their script/lyrics away and feed them lines if they need it
  • Practice for 10 minutes
  • Practice on own if time allows
